Thinking of Paris in August? Here is Why You Might Want to Reconsider

By WeatherEU Staff 23 May 2026 🕒 3 min read

August in Paris is hot, humid, and surprisingly empty of locals. Many family-run restaurants, bakeries, and boutiques close for the entire month for annual holidays. The city air feels stagnant, and because Paris consists of heavy stone buildings and very little greenery, the heat stays trapped overnight. If you book a cheap boutique hotel, double-check if they have actual air conditioning—many older Parisian buildings do not, making sleep difficult. If you must visit in August, plan indoor activities for the afternoon.
